Open division is the only exception which races only within the A grade category.
Seeding Race
This is a very easy, gently race to complete and allows the committe to determine your appropriate race category. All competitors MUST enter this race to be eligible to compete in the other disciplines at the games. This is an insurance and legal prerequisite laid by the Race School. | Giant Slalom
The giant slalom is the first of the downhill races and the course is set to allow those people who can ski quick to go for it. The court layout configuration is comprised of double-gates (poles) with alternating red and blue marker flags suspended between them. This is the longest of the downhill events. |
The slalom is similar in layout to the Giant Slalom except the course layout is configured using code spring-loaded gates (poles) to delineate the racing line. The overall course lenth is shorter than the Giant Slalom and the turn tighter, which ultimately slows the racers speed. | Boarder/ Skier Cross
The boarder/skier cross event is a series of races in groups of 4 that compete to the best at the finish line, after passing through a twisting course of turns, rollers and other manoeuvres where the first 2 finishers of each heat proceed to the next. However somtimes the four races don't fit into the one part of the course so it's not always a matter of skill and strength that gets you to the bottom first, but luck. |
A APSF waiver must be filled out and signed by all competitors or participants prior to racing or partaking in any organised event of the Australian Police Winter Games.
